During a job interview, have you ever been asked to pee for your new company? New applicants for many of the Fortune 500 corporations are now being obligated to take a drug test. In reality, 15 million will be screened this year. Drug byproducts can be found in urine, blood, hair, external residue, and even perspiration! Drugs aren't the only things they test for; recruiters are using urinalysis to test females for pregnancy. Pregnant women are getting laid off or refused employment after taking such a test. Parents are spying on their children. The DOD Directive requires the military to screen all active duty individuals yearly. If you don't wish to be a target of the drug war, this text just might help you. For anyone who is well known, this text may preserve your status. I highly recommend that drug users (marijuana smokers specifically) read this.
Detection times differ depending on analytical technique used, drug metabolism, tolerance, patient's condition, water consumption and technique and frequency of ingestion.
Additional variables determining degree of intoxication include metabolism, tolerance, frequency of intake, water intake, amount of marijuana, potency of marijuana, and length of time you've been a user. When you use marijuana on rare occasions, your urine can be clean of metabolites in less than a week. There is a frequent and unusual phenomena that occurs with chronic users. You would assume a chronic consumer to have the longest detection time and the smallest chance of passing. This is not always the case. A chronic user with a higher tolerance will eliminate drugs faster compared to an occasional user. Chronic users have tested negative after a week long binge. Lipid tissue also makes a huge difference. Slim people not only possess a faster metabolism (generally), but also lack storage for THC metabolites. Body fat will cause a delay in removal pattern, and cause a longer detection time. You should now be able to understand why a persons detection time for THC is so unpredictable.
Positive (defined): 50 nanograms of THC metabolites per milliliter defines a "presumptive positive" by NIDA certified labs. This value was initially 20 ng/mL, but too many false positives resulted. So the level was raised to 100 ng/mL to minimize false positives. Since January 1995, the threshold was lowered back down to 50 ng/mL because drinking water could quickly bring a positive below 100 ng. Remember that these cutoffs aren't universally consistent.
Drink at least eight hefty glasses of fluid (ideally water) right before the test. Many individuals start drinking water several days prior to the test; which is unnecessary. Water does NOT clean any THC metabolites from your system because THC is not water soluble. Water simply dilutes urine momentarily. Do not over do it; you can get water intoxication. People can actually overdose and even die from water intoxication. It is extremely hard to do, and you'll vomit before anything gets serious.
Eating red meat will raise creatinine levels. If you have a lot of red meat in the 3 days before the test, your creatinine level will be normal, and the lab won't realize that you've diluted your urine sample.
