I have appreciated photography most of my life. Sometimes I produced money, sometimes I did not. I put thousands of hours into a Carl Kruse Photos Natgeo website that has certainly not made me a dime, but still it consumes myself, often filling our every waking believed. So the question occurs, why do I place in so much time in something that has not helped me rich, or well known, or even supported my loved ones?

The answer to that question, like most, is probably diverse for each of us. But if you act like you are at a point, or ever get to a point where you find yourself requesting "why bother"? Maybe this list will assist spark an answer for you personally.


1 . Photography can easily relieve stress. It gives you the excuse to be outside, to hike, to explore, and to fill your lungs with very good, clean fresh air. When you concentrate on other things, your personal problems just manage to fade away.

2 . Photography expands the imagination. It can be your muse, your inspiration, even a starting point for some other creative endeavors. It helps you to see the planet and people in a whole new way.

3. Digital photography can be a spiritual knowledge. The rush of rising a mountain or maybe the magic of taking baby's first smile helps put the planet in perspective. Coming in contact with the hearts associated with others is great... yet touching your own, places you on the path to endless enlightenment.

4. Pictures is a means of communication. Yet more than that, this is a means of acquiring information. Documentation, entertainment, and revelation all are derived from being able to "See" provided of view.

5. Photography can feel the hearts regarding others. Whether you are wanting to raise money regarding "starving kids" through Africa or trying to save an "endangered species" in Alaska, nothing can connect with people faster than fantastic photography.
