Recently opened in November 2009 the Hard Rock Cafe in Puerto Banus was Killstar kläder long awaited and ex pats were buzzing with news that such a hip restaurant was coming to town. TGIs was the nearest competitor and lack lustre staff there overpriced menus and a tired interior meant that the Hard Rock Cafe had a very good chance of being a hit.
I went to the Hard Rock Cafe mid November and was impressed with the waitresses at the door. They spoke fluent English and Spanish asked if we wished to be seated in a non smoking area and asked how old the children were so they could establish how many childrens menus that we would need. The childrens menus are for ten year olds and below but they gave one to my son who was thirteen so this age is not fixed. The decor is very hip.
Comfy brown booths or tables to sit in with pillars hung with guitars Hårdrock kläder signed by rockstars in glass cases. A long black bar is at the end of the Hard Rock Cafe serving amazing cocktails priced at 7.508.50 euros. It sounds a lot but they are large and there is a separate cocktail menu as the variety is huge. The selection of non alchololic cocktails is very small.
We ordered the burgers that start from 9 euros. I ordered mine well done as in Spain medium often means see the blood. However here well done meant slightly charred so I would go for medium next time. A small but tasty portion of chips rather soft looking salad but this meal is all about the burgers. They are large and excellent quality. We didnt have any desserts but they are priced at around 7 euros.
The childrens menu has a good selection of food burgers hot dogs chicken and for 6.95 euros you get a main meal a drink and a dessert a chocolate sundae. My eight year old was so full after her burger that she skipped the dessert.
Within the Hard Rock Cafe you also have the Hard Rock Cafe shop that sells tshirts keyrings and teddy bears. My daughter bought a groovy beanie baby with a jacket mohican hair style earring and Hard Rock Cafe Hårdrock t-shirts logo for 16 euros. Expensive. The tshirts are around 27 euros. Mostly aimed at adults there are a couple of designs for children.
The service was good but we went around 6.30pm so the restaurant was very quiet. I thought the price of the meal for Puerto Banus was excellent and the big screens playing music videos was a nice touch. A good night out and a welcome addition to the wealth of restaurants currently in Puerto Banus.
