north cyprus information - For your main course within the meat section, lamb klefitico is a great favourite. The lamb is wrapped and cooked within the oven very slowly often with potatoes. It is extremely similar to the Greek Cypriot dish of the identical name. Mousaka, however, could be and quite often is very different from the Greek version. The original Greek dish has a base of minced lamb or beef with aubergine, topped with potatoes and bechamel sauce. Here, mousaka may or may not have potatoes and doesn't always have the béchamel sauce. It sometimes could be largely potatoes. No two restaurants appear to serve exactly the same recipe. There are a few very traditional dishes to pick from including kolokas and chicken and molohiya and chicken in addition to Imam beyilde, an aubergine shoe full of tomatoes, onions and often minced lamb.
